I’ve got a secret for the mad
in a little bit of time it won’t hurt so bad
and I get that I don’t get it
but you will burn right now but then you won’t regret it
you’re not gonna believe a word I say
what’s the point in just drowning another day
and I get that I don’t get it
but the world will show you that you won’t regret it
little things, all the stereotypes
they’re gonna help you get through this one night
and there will be a day when you can say you’re okay and mean it
I promise you it’ll all make sense again
I promise you it’ll all make sense again
there’s nothing to do right now but try
there are a hundred people who will listen to you cry
and I get that they don’t get it
but they love you so much that you won’t regret it
you’re at the bottom, this is it
just get through, you will be fixed
and you think, that I don’t get it
but I burned my way through and I don’t regret it
little things, all the stereotypes
they’re gonna help you get through this one night
and there will be a day when you can say you’re okay and mean it
I promise you it’ll all make sense again
I promise you it’ll all make sense again
I promise you it’ll all make sense again
I promise you it’ll all make sense again

I’m like a crow on a wire
You’re the shining distraction that makes me fly, oh
I’m like a boat on the water
You’re the rays on the waves that calm my mind
Oh, every time
But I know in my heart
You’re not a constant star
And, yeah, I let you use me from the day that we first met
But I’m not done yet
Falling for your fool’s gold
And I knew that you turned it on for everyone you met
But I don’t regret
Falling for your fool’s gold
I’m the first to admit that I’m reckless
I get lost in your beauty and I can’t see
Two feet in front of me
And I know in my heart
You’re just a moving part
And, yeah, I let you use me from the day that we first met
But I’m not done yet
Falling for your fool’s gold
And I knew that you turned it on for everyone you met
But I don’t regret
Falling for your fool’s gold
Yeah, I know your love’s not real
That’s not the way it feels
That’s not the way you feel
And, yes, I let you use me from the day that we first met
But I’m not done yet
Falling for your fool’s gold
And I knew that you turned it on for everyone you met
But I don’t regret
Falling for your fool’s gold

Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
What are they feeding you?
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
It’s not your fault
They won’t take you to the vet
You’re obviously not their favorite pet
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
It’s not your fault
You may not be a bed of roses
You’re not friend to those with noses
I’ll miss you before we’re done
Or the world will smell as one
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
What are they feeding you?
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat
It’s not your fault

For you, there’ll be no more crying,
For you, the sun will be shining,
And I feel that when I’m with you,
It’s alright, I know it’s right
To you, I’ll give the world
to you, I’ll never be cold
‘Cause I feel that when I’m with you,
It’s alright, I know it’s right.
And the songbirds are singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before.
And I wish you all the love in the world,
But most of all, I wish it from myself.
And the songbirds keep singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before, like never before.

Found myself in a house we’ve never been before
I’m wasted and I’m dancing dizzily
I know you would think I’m so far out of character
Cos you know me
I guess I came here looking for distraction
In a part of town we never used to go
Keep my body busy so my head might just forget
What my heart knows
And all I’m thinking about, is not thinking about you
All I’m thinking about, is not thinking about you
If only I could lose my mind
Then maybe I would find a way out
But all I’m thinking about, is not thinking about you
I’m thinking about you and you seem so unaffected
And I’m fighting not to feel, but nothing works
Been chasing temporary highs and strangers
And I’m tired
I don’t know how emptiness can be this heavy
And your absence be so unavoidable
Funny how the hurt is never equal
When it all falls
Now all I’m thinking about, is not thinking about you
All I’m thinking about, is not thinking about you
If only I could lose my mind
Then maybe I would find a way out
But all I’m thinking about, is not thinking about you
I’m thinking about you
And all I’m thinking about, is not thinking about you
All I’m thinking about, is not thinking about you
If only I could lose my mind
Then maybe I would find a way out
But all I’m thinking about, is not thinking about you
I’m thinking about you
Not thinking about you
Not thinking about you
I’m thinking about you

Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Moments so dear
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure-measure a year
In daylights- in sunsets
In midnights- in cups of coffee
In inches- in miles
In laughter- in strife
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure a year in the life
How about love
How about love
How about love
Measure in love
Seasons of love
Seasons of love
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Journeys to plan
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure the life
Of a woman or a man
In truth that she learns
Or in times that he cried
In bridges he burned
Or the way that she dies
Its time now to sing out
Though the story never ends
Lets celebrate
Remember a year in the life of friends
Remember the love
Remember the love
Remember the love
Measure in love

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special (special)
Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance but you still catch my eye
Tell me baby do you recognize me?
Well it’s been a year, it doesn’t surprise me
I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying “I Love You” I meant it
Now I know what a fool I’ve been
But if you kissed me now I know you’d fool me again
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special (special)
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special (special)
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man undercover but you tore him apart
Maybe next year,
I’ll give it to someone, I’ll give it to someone special
Special, someone, someone
I’ll give it to someone, I’ll give it to someone special
Who’ll give me something in return
I’ll give it to someone, hold my heart and watch it burn
I’ll give it to someone, I’ll give it to someone special
I thought you were here to stay
How can love be for a day?
I thought you were someone special, gave you my heart
I’ll give it to someone, I’ll give it to someone
Last Christmas I gave you my heart
You gave it away
I’ll give it to someone, I’ll give it to someone

One of the many reasons she is my favorite, is her bold creativity both visually and musically. She is self-made and a producer. She never compromises her expression or confine to ideas of how female rappers should behave or look. She is a rapper and atist, who happens to me a woman. Her femininity and gender is not a means for her success, it is just one of her qualities among many.
I think she is an amazing example of a woman, in a man-dominanted industry, who’s trademark and brand goes beyond her gender. She has always behaved as if this was a given.
