It is a little hollow red seed that contains miniature elephants cut out of ivory. They are incredibly tiny, roughly the size of the freckles on my arm. She got the seed in India, when she was working there as a young woman in the 50s and gave it to me when I was 12. The seed is closed with a little ivory cork and lies in a small box on red velvet. Your are supposed to take one tiny elephant whenever you wish for something and throw it over your shoulder, but until now I never did. It is one the most special things I own.

A matte black Zippo lighter with a gold dragon etched into one side. There is a single black hair stuck in the hinge, and the metal around the spark wheel is worn smooth.

I love that old worn-out copy of the first Harry Potter book sitting on your desk, that you always say you’re gonna read again but you never do, and now it’s all dusty and smells funny and looks kinda weird from that time it fell in the river, but you love it anyways because you still remember the first time you read it and it makes you smile every time you think about it. And that’s pretty beautiful.

A bit too long to be a tshirt
A bit too thick to be a tshirt
Not long enough to be a dress
Not thick enough to be a jumper
